Just in time to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the riders who carried mail across the West on horseback, Eagle Mountain added a rodeo to its annual Pony Express Day celebration. Jared and I decided to check it out on the 29th of May. We had so much fun we ended up going back on Memorial day too. It was quite a successful rodeo for such a small town. I forget know but there was an article after the 1st night that talked about how many people were in attendance and the number were quite high. I took quite a few pictures both nights and just combined them into one post.
While the bleachers were removed once the rodeo was over the announcer stadium remained.

Getting ready
At the beginning of the rodeo they re-enacted the Pony Express ride. Where the rider comes in with the mail pack and switches horses and rides away.

I really liked that this picture came out as good as it did. After the National Anthem as the cowboy was getting ready to come out his horse went a little crazy.
Mutton busten has to be one of the funniest events at the rodeo. Watching those little kids hang onto a sheep for dear life as it runs across the arena.
There was a marriage proposal that night. The couple kissing got engaged right there in from of everyone.

The mayor participated in the barrel racing. She did this to raise money for 4 different families in the city battling cancer in some form or another.
The calf cash scramble. They tied ribbons to the calves and the kids chased them to pull the ribbons off. Each ribbon was worth x-amount of dollars.
Some pre-event entertainment. They had different things going on while they set the arena up for different events.

Some members of the Guard met him when he landed to make sure the flag didn't touch the ground.

We really hope that it was such a sucess that they do it again cause we had a lot of fun.
